Bladder Infection

Bladder infection is the most common form of urinary tract infection affecting children and adults alike.
When you get a bladder infection, it leads to cystitis, which is when your bladder swells and gets irritated. Most cystitis is from bacterial infections and less commonly may be due to other infectious diseases, including yeast infections, viral infections, or the result of other causes such as chemical irritants of the bladder, or for unknown reasons.
Most infections in women are caused by bacteria from the bowel that reach the urethra and bladder. Most infections in men are the result of problems that restrict normal urine flow, such as an enlarged prostate. When left untreated, the infection in the bladder spreads to the kidneys and/or the urethra, leading to kidney infection.

What are its main signs and symptoms?

The symptoms associated with bladder infection often cause significant distress. These include:

•  Pain and/or burning sensation while passing urine.

•  Frequent urge to pass urine, with a desire to urinate just after urinating, which is felt throughout the day and night

•  Inability to hold urine

•  Change in the urine colour – cloudy, dark coloured, etc.

•  Blood in urine in case of severe infection

• Strong urine odour

•  Pain in the lower abdomen with general weakness

•  Fever with chills, in case of high-grade infection

Here are a few natural remedies that may help prevent and treat bladder infection;

•  Squeeze out the juice of Radish leaves. Drink one cup juice early in the morning.

•  Add 1 tsp Lime juice in a cup of water. Drink once

•  Drink a cup of Cucumber juice once a day. You may add few drops of Lemon juice or Honey.

•  Prepare juice of Moringa flowers. Drink it once a day by adding few drops of Lemon juice or Honey.

•  Consume 250 ml Coconut water daily.

•  Prepare decoction of the seeds of Coriander; get 3 tablespoons of Coriander seeds and 3 cups of water.
Crush the Coriander seeds.
Boil this water and add the crushed seeds. Cover it and let it cook for 1 to 2 hours on low heat. Strain and drink this tea. Take two tablespoons twice a day.

•  Ginger soothes and relieves irritation. Take Ginger tea twice a day.

•  Add half tsp Sandalwood powder in a cup of warm water. Have it two times a day.
