Internal Bleeding

Internal Bleeding

Internal bleeding is when blood vessels within the body are damaged and/or torn so that blood leaks out of the blood vessels and collects inside the body. Injury that damages the outside of your body is easy to see but internal bleeding is usually not visible from the outside. Bleeding may occur in the body, particularly in the chest cavity, stomach cavity or muscles, head etc.

Internal bleeding has a range of causes, including injury, ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, urinary tract infections, hormonal imbalance, uterine fibroids, organ damage, bleeding disorder, gastritis, ulcerative colitis, blood cancer, Vitamin K Deficiency etc.

You won’t have internal bleeding without an underlying reason, for ease of treatment, you must find out what conditions could be contributing to the problem. However, herbs can treat the underlying diseases and, in some cases, stop the bleeding naturally. You should consult your health care provider for a diagnosis of the cause before starting herbal treatment.

Herbal Actions
Herbs that may cure internal bleeding act in several ways. Anti-hemorrhagic or styptic herbs can prevent and stop excessive internal bleeding in some cases. Some herbs affect female reproductive organs and regulate excessive bleeding from fibroids and menstruation.
Herbs that heal an irritated gastrointestinal tract may also stop bleeding from certain diseases e.g. ulcerative colitis, gastric polyps, gastric ulcer etc.
You need to check with a qualified practitioner for advice about dosage and preparation of herbs to cure internal bleeding.

In the Science and Practice of Herbal medicine, many herbalists have cited Yarrow, scientifically known as Achillea millefolium, for treatment of internal bleeding such as bleeding from the lungs, bladder, stomach, bowels and internal injuries.

Notoginseng is another herb best used for bleeding disorders, both internal and external. The herb is a great help to females who have had an incomplete miscarriage. It avoids the risks of going for D&C procedure. Also very useful in treating blood cancer.

Outlook
It’s important to find and treat the cause and risk factors that may lead to internal bleeding. If internal bleeding is caught, diagnosed, and treated appropriately, the outlook is positive, many people can make a full recovery.
